The Shrine’s Sacramental Programs with the exception of OCIC are two-year programs. Children’s first year of First Communion prep generally takes place in 1st grade with the reception of the sacrament in 2nd grade. Children’s first year of Confirmation prep generally takes place in 5th grade with the reception of the sacrament in 6th grade.

Catechist Spotlight: Kindergarten
Kindergarten welcomes two new catechists (Jennifer G., Deann S.) and a returning Junior Catechist, Natalie.
Jennifer desires to grow deeper in her faith in turn strengthening her relationship with Jesus during her time as a catechist. She is excited to walk with the children helping them discover the beauty of the faith.
If Jennifer could have one person from the bible over for dinner (aside from Jesus) it would be Peter. He stumbled, denied Jesus and was still chosen to be the rock the church was built on – our first Pope.
Natalie is a second-year junior catechist who is excited to witness the joy of the children learning about the Gospel and its impact.
She also would choose St. Peter to have over for dinner because she feels it would be interesting to know how he views Christianity today and how it relates to how it was at its founding.

At Shrine of St. Therese’s catechism programs, children and youth are led and guided by dedicated catechists who generously volunteer their time, energy, and instruction throughout the catechism year. Our catechists take on the role of true discipleship in the catechism program by meeting the children where they are at and walking alongside them in the journey with Christ. The children in the catechism program are taught and exposed to the basic fundamentals of the Catholic faith during the catechism hour. They are led to a deeper understanding and interpretation of the faith by the instruction provided to them by their catechists in turn leaving them with a deeper understanding of their faith
